The way a child develops truly amazes me. I want to take some time here and brag about my oldest daughter. She will be turning four in a few months, and it amazes me the maturity I’ve been seeing in her lately.
At one point she mocked EVERYTHING I did and said. Now, if it’s not me she is mocking, it’s her older brothers, her father, or other adults who influence her life.
She has two younger sisters, a two year old and a six month old. She has helped me in so many ways with these younger sisters.
Here are the ways I see her maturing…
Changing Diapers
The other day she changed her two year old sisters diaper for the first time all by herself (thankfully her sister was cooperative). Many times she will assist me in changing the baby’s diaper.
Ears Pierced
Last weekend she got her ears pierced. She just could not wait till she got them done! In the moment when she got them pierced, she was not too happy about it (at all!), but now she is so proud of those earrings!
Makeup
She joins me in the bathroom pretty often while I’m putting makeup on. She then mocks what I’m doing… she takes the eye liner and tries to put some on. She also puts mascara on, which she is pretty good at putting on! She brushes her teeth and tries to comb her hair.
Jewelry
Now that she has earrings, she wants necklaces, bracelets and rings. She keeps pointing at my wedding rings and tells me she wants some just like that. It really amazes me with me being her mom and having two older brothers how girly she is.
Clothes
She absolutely loves to dress herself up. Sometimes she changes her clothes two or three times in a day. She is always in pink and purple colors, knowing that they are ‘girly’ colors. Plus, she gets so excited receiving new clothes.
Takes Cares of Her Siblings
It is precious hearing your children talk to their baby sister or brother in a high pitch voice. My girl does this pretty often to her baby sister. She lays beside her, giving her some baby toys to play with. She will even act like she is reading books to her- she sits there showing her each page of a book.
Making Food
My little girl loves her eggs. She has some experience in cracking eggs and making scrambled eggs for breakfast! She also likes to assist me when I’m baking.
Here are a few extra pics of her around the home.
She went 5 nights without her blanket that she use to sleep with… so her and dad went on a special date.
She has fallen in the mud multiple times now.
So that’s my little girl. I’m blessed to have three girls that I get to raise and train to be beautiful and virtuous women. And I have this girl here to help me influence the younger ones.
I am BLESSED.
Thanks for taking the time to read about my oldest daughter. What development and maturity do you see in your children right now?
