I’ve been missing on my blog here for a while so I’m here to tell you why. Here is the update on our large family life the previous 6 months…
If you don’t know already, my husband loves real estate and we both have entrepreneurial spirits who love taking on a challenge!
This past May, another property has been purchased, which involved another business project and moving to another location. This is now two hours away from where we previously lived. My husband and I are not normal and actually enjoy moving around and love the business end of things which helps us to venture onto another project.
We moved away from the 48-unit apartment complex, which was the first major project we took on. Systems got set in place and some business partners were added to help with the work load.
Now, we are here with project #2- a dog boarding facility. This is a place where people are able to drop their dogs off at our facility while they are on vacation and we take (extra!) good care of them.
Time Freedom
The main goal my husband and I have for doing all that we do is- financial independence and time freedom. Since you cannot buy time, we realize money needs to be spent within investments that will free up our time down the road. With wise financial investments, we see you can have more time to do what you actually desire along with the residual income. We don’t want to just invest our money into people and projects, but more importantly invest our time with people.
Right now time is extremely flexible on our end (except for summers and holidays at the kennel). But because of running businesses where you hire amazing employees and have some pretty awesome business partners, we are able to push even harder but at the same time be extremely flexible every day with time spent as a family. Every step taken towards another financial business opportunity is to ultimately gain more time freedom.
(Thanks to Grant Cardone and Robert Kiyosaki and many other financial experts for their amazing wisdom which helps assist all financial decisions.)
The New Place
It’s been an extreme lifestyle change since we moved in May. This past summer was rough- almost like the farm life- waking up early to go out and clean dog runs every single morning. My life felt like it was in survival mode.
Things have slowed down though, because of school being in session and the amazing staff is able to handle most of the physical work out in the kennel. My husband and I are now focusing on setting systems in place and training the employees to be the best they can be.
Our children love it here at the new place. Unlike all the previous places we lived at, we actually do not have any tenants living near us, which is a first! Yup, this is the first single dwelling house that we’ve lived in since we got married! There is a spacious yard, pool, long driveway for the kids to ride their bikes on. We also have inherited a few pets – donkeys, goats, and a cat.
Our oldest two boys wake up every morning around 6 or 7am to go out and feed these farm animals. This has become their main responsibility.
The inside of the home is gradually feeling like home, it has multiplied in size maybe 3-4 times compared to where we came from. This definitely has been an adjustment with the larger home. I lose my children around the house easily. We aren’t all together at the time like we use to. With me being more of a minimalist, I feel like everything is just scattered all over the house- not being as simple as it use to be. But I’m learning to appreciate it. One thing is, I like how I can actually escape into a room away from the rest of the family when needed.
Expecting #7
And lastly, if you haven’t heard yet, yes, we are expecting child number seven!! He is coming in March 2020. And that’s kind of a funny story itself. I actually didn’t know I was pregnant right away. I honestly thought I was nauseous this past summer because of the move and stress of the business. When we took the at home pregnancy test, I considered maybe I was 4 weeks along; however, after I received the ultrasound- I actually was 12 weeks along already! We weren’t surprised I was pregnant, but we were surprised by the fact I was that far along and that I actually got pregnant shortly after the move!
(Don’t you just love how thrilled my younger girls look in having another baby brother! lol)
Moving Forward
Thankfully, things have slowed down a lot in this world. (This past summer was extremely busy with boarding dogs since that’s when most people go on their vacation and need a place for their pet to stay!) I’m now learning to be a full-time momma again. I had sitters here often over the summer watching the children. I felt I was more managing the sitters than my own children. But thankfully that’s no longer happening.
I desire to write and get back into the blogging, writing and speaking world again. I have been pretty active on Instagram– putting stories and posts up regularly. (Hop on over there to stay updated regularly on our large family life!) And what I most desire is to start speaking to groups of women. I have two speaking engagements scheduled here in the next few months. I’m nervous and very excited all at the same time for this next step.
Thanks for listening and reading through this whole post. But I’d love to hear from you! What kind of season are you in right now? What next steps are you striving to move forward with? Are there challenges you are experiencing in this season of life?
