This brings me to pregnancy #5, and my birth story with this one is one that I will never forget (wait… how can you forget any birth experience!).
My previous births, I thankfully had no complications, which is why we started to have home births. Every single time, once I go into labor, the baby tends to come out in a very short amount of time! This round, like her siblings, she came fast, and again I had no complications. However, I had an experience with this one that I didn’t have with any of the others.
It was my first PAIN FREE delivery. Some of you might think, “how in the world is that possible!” After four births, I had thought that exact same thing. I had pain in the laboring/contraction stage plus the pushing stage. I knew what pain felt like!
And every single time I was pregnant, I read the book, Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize. I wanted to believe it was possible to experience it all pain free. But after not experiencing it over and over again, my faith struggled to actually believe it.
This birth story was all by the grace of God. I wouldn’t say my faith level increased since my last delivery. I’m here to give God that glory and share in detail with you that experience.

The Birth Story
It’s Tuesday, January 17 2018- my due date. I had my midwife appointment at 2 pm. At that appointment, I had asked her to strip my membranes to try and get labor started. She also gave me some herbs to take to soften my cervix.
That evening I got my normal inconsistent contractions. (For the past four weeks, I had contractions almost every single evening!) My body was getting so worn out. It was the hardest last four weeks of pregnancy I ever had. Another factor was probably because she was the largest baby I had! So, that night, I again questioned whether or not my body was actually entering into labor. My husband and I stayed up watching shows on Netflix to wait it out and see if my contractions progressed. Nothing did, so finally at midnight, we decided to go to bed.
A few hours later, I started waking up to stronger contractions. Ones that I could not sleep through. I had to get out of bed to be able to handle the contractions better. I went downstairs to not disturb the others while sleeping. It’s now 2 am and I’m on my knees leaning over the coffee table trying to tolerate those contractions as they came.
An hour and a half later, I decided to go up and wake up my husband. I needed his support. Immediately after he saw how strong the contractions were coming, he said, “We MUST call the midwife! You are in actual labor!”
It was 4 am at the time when we called her. I was experiencing extreme pain at this point with the contractions. Ones where it was telling my body to push. However, I did not want to start pushing until my midwife got here. Normally, my waters do not break on their own (even during the intense contractions). However, once they are broken by the midwife, things then progress very fast and my babies are usually out within 20 minutes after the breaking.
My midwife walked in the door around 5 am. I yelled at her from the bathroom, asking her to come check me immediately to see if I’m fully dilated and if I’m ready to start pushing.
As she was checking me, she instantly snagged my bags. (And I thought- “Praise God!” because this meant I could start going with my body and push when the urge came.) I transferred myself to the couch and got myself into position because I knew baby was going to come out fast.
The Supernatural Experience
The whole time during my laboring, I had Bethel worship music up on our TV. Once I laid on the couch, I faced the TV, listening and watching them worship Jesus. My spirit started engaging with Holy Spirit.
The pushing started. I pushed with every ounce of energy inside of me. It was extremely HARD WORK. But, the supernatural part of it all was… there was no pain. I’m not exaggerating, I’m not lying… I’m being completely real and honest with you right now.
I laid there on the couch breathing so heavy in between each contraction. At one point, while pushing, I was staring up at the TV. In one of the longest pushes I had- my mind left the physical realm and entered completely into the spiritual realm. My spirit was worshiping God while in the midst of pushing with all my physical strength. Right after the push, my mind came back to the physical realm and to reality. I remember questioning myself, “did I actually just push that whole time?”
After 15 minutes of pushing, the head came through! Relief came, but they told me I had to keep pushing to get her shoulders through. I thought, “Oh, my goodness, I’m not done pushing yet!?” Exhaustion had overtaken me, probably because she came early morning, and I was dealing with the contractions throughout the night. So I had no food and no sleep in me. (And of course, I was not desiring any food while I was laboring.)
Baby came out! She was the biggest baby I had (9 lb 6 oz). That relief feeling of knowing that the work is D.O.N.E. You made it, you did it!
Delivering this baby was hard work. But I did not experience that ‘ring of fire’ or the extreme pain while pushing her out.
After I delivered the other four children, I remember thinking to myself, “I don’t know if I could ever do that again.” However, after this delivery, for the first time, I thought, “Wow, I didn’t experience any pain that time. I could really do this again!” Flabbergasted I was! I couldn’t believe I just went through the pushing stage and did not experience any pain like I did with the other four births. During this experience, I did not experience the pain free labor/contractions part, but am very thankful for the pain free delivery part of it. I remember telling my husband (who was waiting to catch our little girl) that “this is so hard!” But the pain I experienced with the other four deliveries (at times, screaming at the top of my lungs) was not there.
It is possible, ladies, to have a birth story like this! I’m not here to brag about it, but to give you hope and encouragement. Also to give God the glory over this birth story. If you haven’t already, I recommend reading Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize. During every pregnancy I create a list of declarations for myself to speak over my spirit, body, and to the baby in the womb. Fill out the form below to receive this for yourself if you’re pregnant or for your next pregnancy! And don’t be discouraged if you don’t experience it pain free. Like I said, I went through four births experiencing extreme pain during both the contractions and the delivery part.
With God all things are possible. Even a pain free birth!
That’s my birth story. What about you? Have you ever experienced a pain free birth? Can you believe it’s possible? Share with us your birth story in the comments, I’d love to hear them no matter how extreme they are!

Thank you for being faithful to share your beautiful birth testimony- and thank you to all the women who added theirs in this feed! This was an very timely read for me, and I desperately needed the encouragement!
I’m days away from my baby girls’ arrival. I’ve had two other natural birth stories (with her brothers, both born at 41 weeks and very substantial in size! Pain was very present to be sure!)
This has been my hardest third trimester yet, and my spirit is craving more than just “letting the moment happen”.
I am praying for that deeply worshipful moment you describe, and also for the belief (as Brittany mentioned above, thank you for your testimony!) that a pain-free labor is something I can ask Jesus for because He’s redeemed the curse. Wow!
Thank you again. Blessings to you all.

Thanks for sharing your heart. Praying for a supernatural delivery over you in the Name of Jesus!

I have 6 children 5 were natural and the last was supernatural. I always was so scared to have them for the 1st 5 and God always gave me what I had prayed for which was a fast easy and safe delivery with no complications. The 6 time around I was convinced there had to be a better way than thinking I was going to die while in labor. I first came across hypnobirthing, but it didn’t seem very Christian like to me. Finally I found the book Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize and it made perfect sense because it was all backed by God’s word. I knew that we were redeemed from the curse, because Jesus and my pastor Jo Vah taught me that. I just never realized that a pain free labor was something that I could ask him for. So this last labor was everything I prayed for and believed in him for. It was pain free. Alot of work, the contractions just felt like heavy pressure but not pain. Glory to God. It was unlike any other labor I’ve had. God blessed me to be in complete control of my body, I knew what was happening when it was happening. So much that I spoke calmly to the Drs and nurses and told them what to do . They were amazed and said I should teach a class. My little girl came out with her hands first. Praising the Lord. I am preparing for another delivery for my 7th and I’m am expecting an even better experience than the last. The more you know the more you can pray and talk to God about. My regret is not finding this out sooner, but that is part of the journey with Christ is being led and taught by him every day. Having that personal relationship with him it gets deeper and sweeter every day.

Brittany, what a beautiful testimony!! I completely understand that feeling of no pain but intense pressure. We have very similar stories since this was my first pain free one out of 6 births. And congrats on #7!! I’m always inspired by women who choose to have lots of kids!

Brittany, did you deliver yet? I’m curious to hear how the last one went. Praise Yah for another blessing!

What an encouraging story and book! I never heard of it before but I experienced the same: I was told I would never have children but deep in my heart I knew that wasn’t true. God has blessed me with three. And although I struggled through one miscarriage, I gave birth to the others in quick (about an hour) and pain free deliveries!
For me it starts with the believe that God created us and “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” – genesis 1:31. Somehow that verse is written in my heart, and I always believed it to be true in regard to childbirth and supernatural deliveries. I hope all of you have the same encouraging experience!
deniserenae says
Wow, Joanne, so powerful! Thanks for your encouragement and sharing your experience with us. So many more people need to hear this truth and that it is possible! And that’s awesome you have that scripture written on your heart. 🙂

This is such an encouraging story. I’m 32 weeks pregnant and I wrote down in my prayer journal the things I’m believing God to do on my big day. I strongly believe in the power of prayer and making declarations to turn my situation to work in my favor. Thank you so much for sharing, I’m definitely gonna persue that book you recommended. God Bless you!!
deniserenae says
Keep believing for it, Falen, but also don’t get discouraged if you don’t experience the pain-free/supernatural part of it. I’ve been discouraged, and I know many of my friends have been discouraged from not experiencing but it believed in the past. It is possible! I highly encourage you to read that book. It can be a huge faith builder. I truly pray that you get to experience the desire of your heart!

Your testimonial gives the courage n strength. Am expecting too first time, no idea how things will go. I have been praying. I love the idea of putting on a worshiping song. Thank for sharing. I believe with God nothing is impossible…
deniserenae says
I would encourage you to write out declarations with scriptures, speaking over your labor and delivery. Read these EVERY DAY! And once you go into labor, read these as well. Keep praying and believing, Grace!

Thank you for this great encouragement! I am almost 40weeks and starting to feel light contractions (again!). I’ve had 2 CS’s, but am believing for a miracle birth story with no pain and a quick delivery for this anointed girl. Keep encouraging women as your story beings forth God’s kingdom!

This is JUST what I needed today. I am 37w5d pregnant with my second baby boy and literally am sitting here listening to my labor playlist… which is about 90% Bethel music 🙂 It’s the middle of the summer and I am D.O.N.E… but my prayer is that baby boy will come when he is supposed to. I’m just over here hoping he’s “supposed” to come early… lol.
I had an epidural with my first, and while the labor/delivery wasn’t traumatic (at least I didn’t remember it that way… though they did use forceps and I didn’t get to hold him right away because there was meconium), the recovery was rather difficult. So I started reading and asking questions, thinking there has to be a better way. I read “Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth” which helped get rid of a lot of the fears I had about pursuing an unmedicated childbirth this time around and helped me understand why I had the complications I did. I finally came to the decision to have an unmedicated, natural, birth center birth this time around.
My desire for this birth is to have a labor/delivery experience that is absolutely saturated with the presence of God in every aspect. I haven’t read the book you mentioned, but I’m placing an Amazon order today and may just throw that in there 😉
deniserenae says
Lindsay, I completely understand that D.O.N.E feeling! And that is truly amazing that your perspective on child birth has changed. I’m so excited for you, I really believe this round you will experience the birth you desire. 🙂 I will be praying for you Lindsay. Could you please keep me posted and let me know how it goes!

So exciting to find your blog again and read this story. I remember finding the give away that you were doing with Supernatural Childbirth a while ago and I was pregnant with number 2. We had the audio version and would listen to it at night together as we fell asleep which turned out to be very important. I was 9 days over VBAC and gestational diabetes and they were doing an induction which got really painful until my husband started declaring in the room that we were having a pain free childbirth. At that moment I only felt pressure and though I had to push for 2 hours, the most painful part was the episiotomy at the end. I later had further complications when I had to have surgery to repair the tear, lost too much blood and the got an infection. I had gone into shock and they tried to keep my husband out of the room. He pushed his way in and prayed for a miracle and at that moment I responded to the 3 IV of antibiotics. It was amazing to see his faith being built too. I’ve written up my birth story too, over on the blog. I found you again this morning from By His Grace Bloggers. 🙂

Hey Lizzy, great to hear from you again! Your birth story is amazing! I will be hoping on over to your blog to read the rest of it. And I absolutely love how your husband stepped in and took authority over your situations. It’s an inspiration to all of us. Thanks for sharing that!

Very amazing testimony! I had an epidural with my first birth, which was nice, but I’m also interested in other approaches. Lord-willing with my second pregnancy and birth I hope to be in closer communion with God. I’ll have to check out that book!

Yes, I pray that your next birth becomes an incredible experience with your Father!

I read Supernatural Childbirth during my first pregnancy and I always think about it. I have six babies and I would LOVE that to happen to me…because MAN does delivery hurt!

Thanks for reading my article, Elaine! I just checked out your website, I love your layout, and the articles look very resourceful! I will be bookmarking your website.
You say you have six children, are you planning to have more?

Awesome! I read Supernatural Childbirth during both of my pregnancies, and while they weren’t pain-free, I did have two deliveries without any major complications. I love the prayers in the book to pray over every part of your body. It helped me so much to have specific things to pray, and I prayed them every day in the final trimesters.
Love your story, and I’m so glad you shared it!
deniserenae says
Yay! It’s encouraging to hear someone else reading this book and taking action with speaking those prayers over yourself.
