Another Quarterly Review/Getaway for us in the books. For those of you who don’t know already, my husband and I get away from our children for 3-4 days every three months! We’ve been pursuing these now for the last 7-8 years of our marriage.

With all the children we have and not being near family, we STILL make these a priority! No excuses get in our way. Which I talked about here in a guest post I created for Hope Joy in Christ.
Where did we go?
Like I said, since we live further away from family, our last Quarterly Review in April, we hired someone for the first time to watch all our children. This past one, we hired her again. We stayed at home two of the days (which our children and babysitter where here as well), but we stayed in our office to get our quarterly tasks done.
We spent the first day/night at a nice hotel in town, watched a movie, and just hung out together (which was soooo nice!) If you didn’t see the FB post I put up about our movie night, click here, it made us chuckle a bit.
So we were away from home one night, but spent the other night (Saturday) here at home. That night our sitter left once she got all the children down for bed, and she arrived the next morning to start a full day again. We chose to do this with our past Review and this round again, just so our babysitter can gradually be thrown into this position of watching all our children for three full days!
When:
Friday – Sunday
With our new sitter we’ve been using, it only works to make our Quarterly Review three days long instead of four. We are still grateful for those three days!
So, it began Friday morning, she arrived at our house at 8am, spent that night here. Saturday, she went home after she got all the children down for bed, and showed up again 8am the next morning. She was here for a total of three days.
What:
The night we were in the hotel, I took some time to write a prayer in each of my Kid’s Prayer Journal that I have for them.
That next day in our office, I took the photos in my phone from the last few months and organized them onto my computer and updated a photo book that I’m creating for our family for this year on Shutterfly. And as usual, I made time to review and update my mothering, homeschooling, and blogging goals.
The last day (Sunday), my husband and I reviewed our personal and business finances together. Plus, we reviewed our calendars for what we have planned in the coming second half of the year.
In between all these tasks, I took time to read, worked on a few blogging projects, and had a lot of time to just chat with my husband.
These Quarterly Reviews are sooooo worth it! Talking about our finances with each other, reviewing our calendars, and re-planning goals have enhanced our marriage and our lives like never before! I challenge you and your spouse to pursue these as well!
